There is a growing movement of advertising dollars going to another form of advertising for businesses large and small. I’m not talking about internet advertising.  What I am talking about is doing outdoor media advertising and more specifically truck advertising.

Outdoor media has many forms, but one of the ways that is gaining huge popularity is the use of truckside advertising.

Today a consumer has so many choices in regards to what they see and hear for advertising.  With the advent of Tivo and satellite radio, a consumer can easily switch off completely any of the traditional forms of advertising.

That is why a lot of businesses are looking for alternative forms of advertising. They are begging for more mediums to reach the consumer.

But not only do they want more ways to reach consumers, they want it to be effective.

Microsoft Use Audi R8 to Promote Forza 3

During their 2009 E3 conference, Microsoft released details that they would be working along side Audi for the creation of a new racing game, Forza Motorsport 3. Audi and Turn 10 have been working together to ensure that the 2010 Audi R8 is exactly correct because it’s being used as the cover car for the game aswell as an actual in-game car.

Turn 10 game director, Dan Greenawalt, said that the Audi R8 is “powerful but refined, sophisticated yet inviting, the perfect blend of design and performance”, he said that because the Audi R8 is like this, it would make the perfect partner for the game because that’s the way they approached the creation of this game.

To try and promote the new game, Microsoft and Audi are running the AXF-24 Audi-Forza Challenge. This challenge will take the top 9 Forza players and put them against each other in a 24 hour Forza 3 endurance race. The 9 players will be split into 3 teams and the winning group will win an all exspenses paid trip to the 2010 Le Mans endurance race.

The race happens at the Audi Forum in New York City on June 13th. The game is set for release some time in October 2009.

Buying the new Forza 3 game isn’t the only way to get your on an Audi R8 without having to pay the £80,000 price tag. Car leasing is a great way of getting the newest model cars, like the Audi R8, at the cheapest prices. Ford See Growth from Chrysler Bankruptcy

Ford has recently released details that they have seen a rise in sales in the US market. The US manufacturer, who is currently the only US car manufacturer who has not filed for bankruptcy, released their sales figures in may which reached 155,954 sold vehicles. The current figures show a 24% decrease in sales from the same month last year, however, the figures show a 20% rise in sales from last month.

General Motors and Chrysler may have had an affect on Fords sales figures, both companies have seen record low sales and have both filed for bankruptcy recently.

The day after they filed for bankruptcy, General Motors released their sales figures. They announced that they saw 191,875 sales in May which is an 11% rise on last months sales, however, it’s a 30% decrease from the same month last year. The worst sales came from the makes that General Motors plan to sell on, Hummer, Saab, Saturn and Pontiac.

As for Chrysler, they filed for bankruptcy at the end of April following an announcement of their sales figures which reached sales of 79,010 vehicles, a 47% decrease in sales from May 2008. Chrysler explained that a large number of sales came from dealers that are stopping sales of Chrysler cars next week, because of this, they cut prices.

Ford is attempting to take advantage of the current situation by changing their vehicle production strategy. They plan on increasing their production over the next two quarters by 52,000 vehicles.

The majority of car manufacturers are not just being affected by a decrease in sales from the public. Corporate sales have also been on the decrease, companies that offer Ford leasing aswell as a number of other makes such as Peugeot leasing are buying less cars because they are being hit by the credit crunch. THe big problem is that when a customer wants to buy a car, they rarely think about leasing a car, which is normally the cheaper option.

New car sales down by 25% since last May

UK sales of new cars were down by a quarter in May compared to the same time last year, despite the government’s introduction of a £300m scrappage scheme to encourage buyers back into the new car market. Figures show a total drop in sales of 24.8%, the 13th month in a row that sales have fallen.

A total of 289,958 vehicles were sold between January and May 2009, 289,958, a worrying drop of 27.9% from the same period in 2008. The recession has affected the motoring industry more than any other, and car manufacturers have had to resort to drastic measures to keep their heads above water. The sharp fall in sales has forced many car makers including Nissan, Vauxhall, Honda and Ford to temporarily suspend production in their UK factories and a large number of workers have been left without jobs.

The government have implemented a new scrappage scheme to address the problem, which gives potential buyers a £2000 incentive to scrap old cars registered before 1999 and buy a new one instead. Granted, £2000 is not going to enable you to trade in an old banger and buy a new Mercedes Benz, but it’s a step in the right direction and more than 35,000 orders have been put in so far, though the result of this is yet to be seen in the sales figures. But this does not mean the scrappage scheme has been unsuccessful, It has only been going since the 18th May and will take time to convert into new car sales. The idea is that the project will help to improve people’s faith in the car industryand lead to rise in sales from June.

Despite the obvious setbacks for the motoring industry there is one niche market that is still proving a huge success. The ‘mini’ segment grew by 50% in May, suggesting that consumers would rather buy a Nissan Micra, a Mini or a Ford Fiesta than a fuel-guzzling sports car or a people carrier. Smaller city cars are a far better choice for people with a tight budget as they are not only cheaper to buy but much more fuel efficient too.

Peugeot Break Into People Carrier Market

Peugeot have created a brand new 7 seater people carrier after the success of their old 7 seater estate car. The new Peugeot 5008 will complete the French car manufacturers car line-up, they also hope that it will be a equal, if not better, rival to the other people carriers currently on the market.

This new people carrier has a sleek new design with a number of modern features, it goes to show that buying a 7 seater people carrier isn’t like buying a tank.

The car has been designed with a range of features to suit every families lifestyle, one being the ability to flatten all of the second row seats individually to give you some extra room. Alternatively you can gain an extra 2,506 litres of storage space by flatenning the whole back row of seats.

This car really has been designed for storage, aswell as a huge boot space, there are a series of under floor boxes, plus a huge 10.5 litre cool box in the centre console.

The new 5008 has a number of different engines, all taken from the current Peugeot range. You can get one of two different 1.6 litre petrol engines that supply 156bhp or 120bhp. There are also a range of 3 different diesel engines, a 1.6 litre 110bhp or the other 2 options are 2 litres managing 150bhp or 163bhp.

The new Peugeot 5008 will be put on show in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The 5008 is due for release at the beginnging of 2010 at a £15,000 price tag. If you are concerned about the cost of this new people carrier, buying your own it’s the only option that will be available at release.
