Covers For Caravans – Why You Need One!

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

We all know the potential damage caused by leaving a vehicle outside in all weathers. Would you leave your car out on the street when you can put it safely in the garage? You protect your car from the elements as much as possible, so it makes good sense to do the same with your caravan. Just like your car, your caravan needs care and attention, to reward you with many years of pleasurable caravanning and, when you come to replace it, keep depreciation to a minimum.

It’s not only the hail, storms and snow of a harsh winter that can cause damage. Rain contains the same acids all year round, from a light April shower to a torrential downpour, and a build-up of sludge and green algae on your caravan roof is not only unsightly but very time-consuming to remove.

It is not just the wet weather that is a problem either, the powerful UV rays of the sun can damage the paintwork, tires and upholstery. Yet the weather is only the start of the problem. Birds might well enhance your caravanning experience, but they show no respect when it comes to where they leave their droppings! Consider also the potential for nasty scratches, bumps and even the audacious thief.

So, what can you do about this? Well, if you do not have space in your garage, and do not fancy paying extortionate storage fees all year, then a good caravan cover is just what you need. It can save you a lot of both hassle and expense, and leave you to spend your time enjoying your caravan rather than cleaning and repairing it.

The well-fitting cover, especially one made to fit your own particular caravan, is a microporous barrier. Just as our own skin is waterproof and ‘breathable’, exhaling condensation, so the caravan’s weather resistant cover can protect it from damp as well as all other environmental damage. Most covers are made from polypropylene, a versatile material well known for its toughness, strength and its powerful resistance to chemicals, grease, oil and heat.

Your caravan is an investment and deserves sound protection. Look after it all year round and you will reap the maximum benefit from it. Time spent on good ‘over-wintering’ will pay off when it comes to the spring and the wise caravanner will follow a check-list of jobs to do before settling it into hibernation. Removing all the contents, leaving the fridge door open and giving the caravan a good clean and polish will all stand you in good stead for next season and rounding everything off with a good quality caravan cover will be a job well done.

Is A New Snowmobile Trailer In Your Future?

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

Exposing my family to snowmobiling was a great idea.  Snowmobiling is a great outdoor activity that the entire family can take part in. But as our children grew older, the number of snowmobiles grew while storage space disappeared. The more snowmobiles you have, the more you need to transport and store at home during the summer months.  This motivated me to look into upgrading my snowmobile trailer. Most of us purchase our first single or double open snowmobile trailer when we get our first snowmobile. Dealers are quick to recommend expensive enclosed trailers for transporting your new snowmobile. Most of us are more interested in the snowmobile’s speed rather then transportation needs.  Fortunately, most snowmobile buyers face the same problem.

Lets face it, most of us don’t consider snowmobile accessories when we are shopping for our first snowmobile.  A good snowmobile trailer is usually the first snowmobile accessory that most of us will purchase.  When shopping for a snowmobile trailer, I suggest buying a larger trailer then you might need.  The reason for this is that they serve as great storage for your snowmobiles and all your winter equipment.  A sturdy trailer not only protects your snowmobile during travel but also from the weather when not in use.  As mentioned earlier, purchasing a larger trailer is not usually first on the list of new snowmobile owners.  Consequently there seems to be an unending supply of good used snowmobile trailers for sale.

Today, you generally will find exactly the right type and size of snowmobile trailer for your needs on the web.  All those other snowmobile enthusiasts are looking to upgrade their trailers just as you are.  So shopping for a used trailer or trailer accessories or parts could not be easier.  In fact, for complete snowmobile accessories, information and sales of used snowmobiles, be sure to click through and visit the snowmobile center.

Antique Travel Trailers

When I first decided on making a website of Vintage Travel Trailers for Sale, I thought, “Who in the world would be looking for old travel trailers”.  And much to my surprise, there are quite a few people still interested in the classical {travel} trailers.

After perusing so many sites about the old days and camping trailers, made me remember such great times back in 1965.  Oh what a great life we had back then, huh?Once Dad retired from the Marine Corps, he located old pals from his military days.  His name was Red Martin, just in case anyone remembers him.  His wife was Maggie and their son was Butch.  Also, Jim and Laverne Weis were great fun to be around and also involved with Kenskill travel trailers. All right, let’s finish my tale.We were in Orange County before moving. to Granada Hills, Ca.  There my Dad, Mom and myself nestled into our new life of being civilians.  We moved there so Dad could be associated with Kenskill Travel Trailers.Dad presented many of the new travel-trailers during many of the shows.Remembering a show that I went to with my parents was really memorable.  It was at Dodger’s Stadium in the grande parking lot with all of the new travel trailers and some classic vintage travel trailers from the 1940’s.  We were all very close during that time in the travel trailer business.  Most of the time, my Dad would be whistling the song “Trailers for Sale or Rent”.  Great times were in abundance!  This website will be here for remembrances of what the vintage trailers for sale used to be like.

The classic trailers at that time were more of the long long trailer and Kenskill was at the height of making the 18’ classic enclosed trailer for smaller families to be able to go camping for the weekend.  Kenskill was a big name in the 1960’s in California.  A much loved travel trailer family adored by everyone back then.  The travel trailer supplies and equipment were top of the line for those days.  The used airstream classic travel trailer was the biggest competition.  Kenskill made quality, and had trailer supplies that were always available.  Sadly, the vintage camping trailers are all but a few.  You might be able to at least see one if you are lucky enough to get to a big trailer tradeshow in a large city. What an awesome sight they are, much less to actually buy one.  I guess if I really added up the years, you could call them antique travel trailers now.  But I won’t, because that will make me feel too old!

Let’s not forget the classical airstream trailers.  They are also a true work of art with their curved wood panels in the interior to the flashy silver streak trailers on the outside.  A used Airstream classic travel trailer is a legend in the truest sense of classic travel trailers.Amongst the groups of people that are in clubs that persue the Airstream trailers is very large.  You can always find trailer supplies through catalogs to spruce yours up, if you are lucky enough to possess one.

These classical travel trailers that you can puchase is beyond mere words.  There are sites online that you will be able to find trailer supplies.  I almost forgot to mention two more classic trailers.  They are the vintage tag-a-long camper and the 1951 vintage vagabond trailer. Each of them were great at that time of lazy days, four-day weekends and a lot of family togetherness going about in travel trailers at that time.
Thanks for reading my article on Vintage Travel Trailers and maybe having some of your memories take you back to those great times.Just a minutes, I’m sure I am listening to someone singing “King of the Road”!

To fond memories of vintage travel trailers for sale!

Is A New Utility Trailer In Your Future?

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

In recent years, more and more people are buying small trailers of one sort or another. Considering the price of gasoline and the demise in popularity of the family SUV, owning a good utility trailer makes sense. Utility trailers can range from small open bed landscaping style trailers to larger enclosed cargo trailers with locking ramp style doors. There are also snowmobile trailers, motorcycle trailers, all sizes of camping trailers, and boat trailers to mention some. First you should decide which kindtrailer is best for your personal needs. The main reasons behind owning a trailer is usually based upon business or a family hobby which requires transporting your large toys.

If you intend to haul small recreation vehicles or motorcycles, then an open flatbed trailer might be your best choice. Then again, if you need extra space at home for storing your toys, you might consider going with a larger cargo trailer. These are easily locked and can be stored next to a house. You will be shocked at how much space you can find in your garage when you start moving your adult toys and such to a storage trailer.  If you are considering a larger cargo trailer to serve as storage as well as for its hauling capability, I’d chose one with ramp back doors and a side door.  This type of trailer comes in single or double axel form which should be taken into consideration if hauling heavier loads. The side door is is most convenient in reaching those things you placed in the nose of the trailer.

In past years, I’ve bought and sold many trailers related to business. You will quickly learn, locating a good used trailer can be a challenge at times but with the advent of online trailer sales, this problem has been solved. You can generally find the exact type and size trailer you are looking for if you have a bit of patience. It is also very handy to be able to purchase all your trailer parts and accessories on the web also. You can easily find everything from replacement lighting to axles and brakes for just about any utility trailer without leaving your desk.

If you see a new trailer in your future, you really should click through and read this excellent article that will help you select the best utility trailer for your personal needs.
